Yesterday i had my step son at his hunters safety course and they were talking about hunting out west! They said that you MUST have your hunters safety course card with you in order to get a license! I didnt know this and just thought i would pass it on in case anyone is planning a trip! Make sure you have the card or you will not be given a license!

That is for Archery as well. I am a Montana Bowhunter Safety Instructor. If you wish to hunt with archery tackle in Montana, you will either need a Montana Certificate or one from your home state.
If you want to hunt bear in Montana, you must pass the Bear ID test online at FWP.MT.GOV. It isn't hard, but we have both blacks in all color phases and Grizzly that also come in several colors. The test is to help you identify the characteristics of the bear in the field so you don't shoot a Grizz by mistake. We have a lot of Grizzly and Black bear both, but the tag is only for black bear.
If anybody on these boards is planning a hunt to Montana, if you have any questions, please feel free to post here and I will get you the answers.
Good Hunting All
