The information in that "news report" is a little wrong. There were several coyote attacks on cross country skiers in Yellowstone Park in the '90s. No fatalities for the humans thank heavens, but a coyote will attack humans. The introduced invasive species the canadian grey wolf killed pretty much all the coyotes in the park since they were released, but they are better at killing than coyotes so it isn't much of a cure.

My male GSP Bucks' sister was attacked by a yote in OH 5 years ago. Owner let her out to go & heard the fight. She lost an ear, but luckily lived & that's a fairly large dog for a yote to take on, but it did.(she goes about 50lbs)
