Yeppers I'm a tad paticular about my garden...but stories guys you have to have some.....I have many...but heres one more to get you started..... Went out before sun rise on opening day of a turkey hunt...got to the ground blind that I had made from old logs and brush and had an old boat seat in.....sat and waited with the usual critters running around and over my legs..ya know mice and chipmonks ..ect...it was dark but lighting up slowly and I started hearing sounds that weren't the usual.....about then two sets of pointed ears and beady eyes popped up at the end of the blind starting to climb in .... ....swung my gun and shot so fast it actually scared me....I heard gurgling and then silence....at day light I got up and saw the two 20+# raccoons that I killed with that one shot.....went home and got video camera and hubby called..." Iheard you shoot when I left for work...How big is he?"...AAAhhh honey you wont believe me ..50 pounder" He says "ya right" no really two 25#raccoons...."Only you, now go get a turkey lol"

I hate raccoons....I've had to be on a rabbies watch twice thanks to them......The first time we took the raccoon and our fox terrior to the vets......vet washed me up checked and cared for dog and told me they had to send raccoons head to albany.....checked with them 4x's they finally aid no news is good news... Well three months later the NY state board of health calls and tells me that a employee found the head in the vets refrig. and turned them in....that I had to waite and see because the incubation period is three weeks to over a year and they'er not sure if they can even get an accurate test results from head now!! But feel if I haven't got it yet I was in good shape I could have infected my 2 young children and husband...Vet was fired and moved out of state...... I got chased down by a racoon while walking our woods ....wel I had a bad accident some years ago and can't run as fast as I use too.....besides not being even close to my thirties anymore ...any how I turned to fight and had grabed a rather large limb...Dang if he didn't back down! So while yell and screaming at him I start swinging and in the end club him to death.....but at one point had blood from his mouth get on me......OOhh was "Mr. B. mad at me ....now I have to carry a cell phone with me .....he preferrs I carry a rifle but It was just a walk!...anyhow Heath Dept sent it in and it was clear but another scary time and know one knows why a healthy raccon would suddenly go on an attack like that....dang thing chased me close to 100yrds before I turned...

Not the strangest kill, but the strangest hunt. I am friends with a Harvard lawyer. He had never hunted and never even owned a gun until he came out to SD to volunteer at the Native American legal services. He found discovered he likes 10 gauge double barrels. He now has 6. Doesn't matter who makes them, or if they are SxS or o/u. He wanted to go hunting with his new gun, and goose season was open so I agreed to take him. We are hunting out of an open pit blind. First he shows up at the coffee shop all bundled up but wearing his lucky red sox hat. We get that taken care of finally, we get in the truck and start for the blind. Half way there he pulls out a box of Federal slugs, asks if these will work? After about driving into the ditch from laughing, I ask why he got slugs. He explains that the limit is 2 geese, he figured 2 shots at each goose and one extra, just in case so he bought the slugs because they came 5 to a box and he didn't want to buy a box of 25 in case he didn't like hunting. We never did get a shot that day, but it sure was a memorex moment. Glad you reminded me... I gotta call him and see if he liked his Christmas present.
